An Open and Shut Case for Vinyl Sliding Windows

Perhaps you prefer heaving open the dual sashes of a classic up-down window. Perhaps you like the way wood framed windows swell and stick in summer's humidity. Perhaps you also like shoveling snow in the winter, especially when it's the wet and heavy kind that hurts your back and leaves you late for work. Or maybe, just maybe, you're ready for the ease of vinyl sliding windows.

These easy to open, easy to clean windows are especially good in bedrooms and bathrooms. You can open them from left to right or from both sides at once, which allows exceptional ventilation and circulation: great ventilation for the typically moist and clammy bathroom!

Sliders, as they are known, don't interfere with window treatments like casements or awning windows may, and they remain easy to open even over furniture or countertops, unlike most double sash windows. They are available in a wide range of sizes, except for the very largest. Since they don't open in or out, but left and right, there is less chance of damage to the window or to passing people.

Vinyl sliding windows of varying qualities are available from many different manufacturers. Look for windows supported by good warranties. Ask how the vinyl is protected from UV deterioration, and be well-informed regarding glazing options, too.
