Achieving Stardom: Philips Vinyl Windows
Recently, Bob Vila chose Philips vinyl windows as his windows of choice for his EnergyWise house project. He chose these windows, from Philips' Marquee 9000 series, because these windows are capable of increasing energy efficiency up to 90 percent. The main reason these vinyl windows are so extremely efficient is that they are made from three pieces of glass, with two sealed airspaces separating the panes. These spaces are filled with argon, the best insulating gas in use today, and the glass is treated with an E-coating, which favorably affects the way it handles and disperses solar power. Most vinyl window lines are readily available with two panes of glass and the argon insulating, but few come routinely with three glazings. It is this unique efficiency that has earned Philips windows inclusion in the Environmental Protection Agency's highly regarded Energy Star program, as well. At present, these Philips vinyl windows are only available in the new home market, not as replacement windows, but that may change. If you are looking for a real "star" of a window, you might want to look into these. You will find their products under the company name as well as Marquee and Care-Free windows.
