Are your old double hung wood windows so ornery they only open with the coaxing of a soap bar or the cruder bribe of a hammer? Don't give up on the style yet. New double hung wood windows are a breeze to use and are so energy efficient they hardly seem related to their predecessors. Evolution? No, in this case at least, it's a matter of intelligent design.
